The people behind The Express Gearbox Company
Alan Priddy (Chairman) started The Express Gearbox Company in April 1970 and since then has witnessed extensive advances in transmission technology - from the early days of Borg Warner to the highly sophisticated digital units that are now in every day use. He is in no doubt the industry will continue to become ever more complex and the introduction of new computer systems will always be a challenge.
Despite these challenges, his outlook has never changed, "You can rest assured that our company ethos will always remain the same; we are here to look after your gearbox problems - we never want our problems to become yours".
The changes in the industry have been immense and have generated enormous changes in the demands on the company. In response to these demands, he has expanded the company into the new, purpose-built, factory and office premises on Dundas Spur. He feels the move has allowed the company to remain a major force in the investigation and repair of automatic gearboxes and to continue the service and maintain the high level of customer satisfaction they set out to provide all those years ago.
James Priddy joined the company in 1997. He started out as an apprentice transmission engineer and steadily worked his way up through the company. He is now in charge of purchasing and sourcing difficult parts for the new ranges of units the company is now working on. James' areas of expertise include Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar engines, along with the 'motor sport' side of the business. He has worked with many top race car engineers around the world, consulting on difficult transmission problems and recommending modifications to resolve them.
Wayne Priddy joined the company in 1999 and now specialises in the Constant Variable Transmissions (CVT) that will be a dominant force in the next generation of vehicles. This technology is already far more available in the form of the modern 'Hybrid fuel' models and there is an anticipation that this side of the business will continue to expand. In addition to his expertise with the CVT range, Wayne is also in charge of training the company's apprentices in general automatic gearbox engineering, particularly models such as DPO, 5R55N, JF506LE and ZF.
Working alongside Alan, James and Wayne are a team of hand trained engineers, able to deal with every need. |
